How is the Corona Virus Affecting Palos Verdes Real Estate Market Trends
January 16th, 2021
Organizers of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival plan to screen all 15 films Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro where it’s always been held, and then three weeks later on Feb. 12 at the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre.
THE PALOS VERDES PENINSULA LAND CONSERVANCY
For almost 30 years, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy has been preserving land and restoring habitat for the education and enjoyment of all. Working with the community, they have succeeded in creating a beautiful green refuge of 1,600 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The area includes 42 miles of recreational trails – the largest network of public trails between Laguna Beach and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Their monthly Nature Walk Program has welcomed thousands of residents and visitors to learn the cultural, historic and geographic history that makes the Peninsula so special. Their two nature centers have activities that encourage people to connect to their natural surroundings.
In 2014, the Conservancy introduced a film series, “The Beauty of Nature,” attended by over 2,000 patrons who enjoy experiencing adventures and beauty of the outdoors, even in evening entertainment.
With a third grant from Patagonia, they are able to present the third Wild & Scenic Film Festival on tour in our community, and have added a new venue in Hermosa Beach for February 12th for the identical film presentation. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival films will take us from California to Chile and Lebanon, and ranging from quiet hikes to slack-lining in wild places, the festival will thrill all ages and inspire new ideas and awareness.
Wild & Scenic Film Festival started in 1983 and is now the largest film festival of its kind in the United States. W&SFF partners internationally to present “On Tour” festivals by engaging hosts who jointly raise awareness of preservation issues in nature.
The Conservancy is proud to present an exciting selection of adventurous and inspirational films about nature. With beautiful cinematography and some remarkable individuals, the passion is contagious. From the spectacular close-up photography of birds, bees and plants in Yosemite to the exhilarating and exciting bicycle trips in the Sierra while young mountaineers climb the 14,000’ peaks, to a tremendously dedicated citizen scientist whose initiative has helped to bring bluebirds back to our country, you will be moved, transfixed and energized to make a difference in our world.
Our generous “on tour” sponsors are listed in this brochure, as well as the festival’s own sponsors. We thank both groups tremendously for making our festival possible on January 22nd in San Pedro and February 12th in Hermosa Beach!
