While most of the time, Palos Verdes is just a quiet sleepy community, every once in a while for various reasons, we get into some traffic situations that can make a 10 minute drive to something more like 30-45 minutes. I will be updating this site for Palos Verdes Traffic Information as I get notified by the cities here on the Palos Verdes Peninsula: Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills and Rolling Hills.
Given the fact that there really is just one road circling the entire Palos Verdes Peninsula, if there’s a hiccup along Palos Verdes Dr (E, W, S or N), it’s going to be a problem!
Palos Verdes Traffic Information for 8/27/2015 – 8/31/2015 inclusive:
There are several upcoming activities that are anticipated to cause traffic delays on the Palos Verdes Peninsula; please allow for extra travel time and consider alternate routes when possible:
Palos Verdes Drive South Roadwork in the Landslide:
Work within the roadway on Palos Verdes Drive South is being performed at the east end of the landslide by the L.A. County Sanitation District’s contractor. Lane closures may be required from time to time to facilitate moving equipment. Two-way traffic will be preserved and delays kept to a minimum in the area, but delays will randomly occur. This is a 40-working-day project(working days are Monday-Friday), so the project should be completed by mid-October.
Intersection of Palos Verdes Drive East at Palos Verdes Drive North:
The City of Rolling Hills Estates will be closing the intersection of Palos Verdes Drive East and Palos Verdes Drive North intermittently on Monday, August 31st, from 11pm to 4am the following morning. The intermittent intersection closures are expected to last no longer than 15-minute periods at any one time within the 11pm to 4am time period. This work is part of the Undergrounding Utility District (Rule 20A) project that has been underway at this location. Changeable message boards are being setup this week at four locations near this intersection to aid in notification of this upcoming work and resultant traffic delays. Questions or concerns should be directed to the City of Rolling Hills Estates at 310-377-1577.
Palos Verdes Peninsula-wide:
Schools within the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District resume session on Monday, August 31, 2015. Expect delays during the morning commute, especially near schools, when students are being dropped off at school, as well as in the afternoon when students are dismissed. Take extra care in sharing the road with students that may be walking, or riding bicycles, to and from school.
