How is the Corona Virus Affecting Palos Verdes Real Estate Market Trends
January 16th, 2021
Palos Verdes Home Sales of course vary all the time so let’s take a brief moment to review what’s happening in a more “macro” fashion for the South Bay real estate market. At around 1:30, watch for the big surprise in the video below, but play from the beginning to understand the perspective.
I was prompted to write this post when I read a couple of articles today, one from the Real Estate Insider which referenced a report from Lawrence Yun who is the National Association of Realtors’ chief economist in Washington DC. According to NAR, pending home sales in January increased dramatically from levels in January of 2014; up over 8%. That’s a big number.
In fact it was noted that this is the 5th consecutive year in which pending sale volume increased. Now the interesting part for me is the comment from Lawrence Yun in which he stated that “…for the most part buyers in January were able to overcome tight supply to sign contracts at a pace that highlights demand that exists in today’s market…”
For those of you that have touched in to my blog, you know I’m just an old econ guy and supply/demand patterns fascinate me. After all, real estate, like any other commodity, has its price purely driven by the interaction between the two.
So what of the South Bay and Palos Verdes homes? Are we finding the same trends that pattern the National trends for real estate? If not in what way are they different? Take a look at the charts presented in this video. I believe you will find this VERY interesting and if you’re planning on buying or selling property here in the South Bay, very helpful to you strategically. Want more information?
