Surrounding Lunada Bay Homes …

One of the more fabulous locales within the city of Palos Verdes Estates, CA is the section of the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the west side known as Lunada Bay.  One of the reasons the area is so high in demand amongst Palos Verdes home buyers is the fact that it is the only section of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in which all three schools, Lunada Bay Elementary (rated a 9/10 with an API score of 940 on GreatSchools.org), Palos Verdes Intermediate (rated 10/10 with an API score of 950 on GreatSchools.org) and Palos Verdes High School designed by world famous architect Richard Neutra (ranked #187 nationally and 30th within California per the US News World Report) are within just a few minutes drive or bicycle ride away.  No where on the Peninsula can  you find this benefit.

This is a tremendously friendly and warm family community surrounded by natural beauty unmatched by vacation spots world wide.  Most of “Lower Lunada Bay” (that section west of Palos Verdes Drive West) is composed of relatively flat streets making it great for kids to get around on their bicycles and over to the schools’ open spaces for play. There have been many times when my kids were young, when we would scale the cliffs down to the rocks below and explore the tide pools … don’t worry, it’s an easy scale with paths down the side.  My kids were 5 years old when we first did this.

The shopping plaza is a great gathering spot with St. Honore Bistro and Café as a hub.  The small park there makes for a great setting for the summer concert series!  Other very, very good restaurants are here such as Alfredo Garcias, clothing stores and specialty shops like Lemons & Sugar Gift Shop!

The weather is fantastic if you like a bit on the cooler side with refreshing sea breezes.  Many people make the mistake of thinking Lunada Bay is foggy – it’s not!  When the fog comes in, it hits the cliffs and bounces high to settle near the top of the Peninsula and leaves Lunada Bay overcast, not foggy.  There’s plenty of sun however nearly year around.  What I think too is great is the fact that for both Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and Palos Verdes High School, their respective Cross Country teams run the trails near Palos Verdes Drive West and Via Coronel.  This is one of the most grueling but fun (yes a paradox) walks/hikes/runs you can do here on the Peninsula.

There are many, many fine neighborhoods here on the Palos Verdes Peninsula each with their own unique benefits of homeownership and you will find none better than Lunada Bay.  Come and explore the area with me!  I will meet you for coffee at St. Honore’s!  My treat!
